








Strømmen upper secondary school is situated in Strømmen which is a small urban area just outside Oslo. The school offers vocational studies to about 700 students, there are also courses available for adults’ training. Strømmen upper secondary school is an innovative school that inspires their students through collaborative learning and interesting programmes.

Thematic and Social Profile
At Strømmen upper secondary school we aim at creating a friendly and tolerant environment, where all young people and adults, irrespective of abilities, background or gender, can enjoy, exercise and develop their knowledge, talents and interests. Cultivating students’ social competence is considered an important issue in the educational work.
Our school is open to the local and national working life, and cooperate to a large extent with both public and private institutions and companies relevant to our lines of studies. Ensuring apprenticeships and placement is a very important part of our training, which is based on solid theoretical knowledge combined with practical skills.
International projects
Strommen upper secondary school takes part in the EU’s educational programme PLL, Programme for Lifelong Learning, through different projects.
Comenius: School cooperation with ten different European countries in the project “Cultural Identity and Development of Tourism”. Two more Comenius projects, in the fields of healthcare and mechanical studies, are being prepared.
Grundtvig: the school takes part in developing and promoting a website for senior citizens concerning e-learning.
Leonardo de Vinci: Students from Strømmen have for many years had their placement period in different institutions in Europe. Healthcare students have their placement in therapeutical centres in Lithuania and Greece, automechanics in Finland.
• Norplus: Educational exchange of students and apprentices within the northern countries of Europe take place every year.

SVS takes part in the EU’s e-learning programme through the project “Living our environment.” An Italian school in Sicily and one in Lithuania join Srømmen in the project.
Scholarship- and training funds established through the EEA grants. SVS takes part in the project “PISE 3- Paper in school- environment-economy-education” together with a gymnasium in Teplice in The Czech Republic and two other Norwegian schools.
Strømmen has taken part in the Young Enterprise for many years. The students develop their business skills and learn how to run a company in cooperation with other students. This proves to be an efficient educational approach for young learners.
